Impact analysis as a first step towards sustainability

Ein guter Startpunkt für Akivitäten zum Thema Nachhaltigkeit im Unternehmen ist meiner Meinung nach, sich mit dem eigenen „Impact“ auseinanderzusetzen. Also welchen (negativen oder positiven) Einfluss habe ich als Unternehmen/mit meinem Produkt/meinem Projekt oder meinem Arbeitsbereich.

Im Zuge dieser Überlegungen tauchen dann meist automatisch auch Potentiale für Verbesserungen auf (positive Aspekte maximieren / negative Aspekte minimieren) – und häufig auch schon einige konkrete Ansätze und Ideen.

Um bei der Impactanalyse systematisch vorzugehen und alle wichtigen Bereiche zu berücksichtigen, arbeite ich sehr gern mit den Canvasmodellen von Threebility.com, die ich um passende Illustrationen ergänzt habe, um besser „visuell“ arbeiten zu können.

Die Analsyse nach diesem System gliedert sich in 3 Abschnitte:

- Produkt/Technologie: 1st order effects bzw. direkte Auswirkungen

- Anwendung Produkt/Technologie: 2nd order effects bzw. indirekte Auswirkungen

- Gesellschaftliche/strukturelle Veränderungen: 3rd order effects bzw. syststemische Auswirkungen

Ein nächster Schritt wäre – auf Basis der Impactanalyse – zu überlegen, welche SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) für mein Unternehmen/Projekt relevant sind und hier entsprechende Ziele zu setzen.

Impact analysis as the first step towards more sustainability

In my opinion, a good starting point for activities on the subject of sustainability in the company is to deal with one's own "impact". So what (negative or positive) influence do I have as a company / with my product / project or area of ​​work.

In the course of these considerations, potentials for improvements usually automatically emerge (maximize positive aspects / minimize negative aspects) - and often also some concrete approaches and ideas.

In order to proceed systematically with the impact analysis and to take into account all important areas, I like to work with the canvas models by Threebility.com, which I have supplemented with suitable illustrations in order to be able to work better “visually”.

The analysis according to this system is divided into 3 sections:

- Product / technology: 1st order effects or direct effects

- Application product / technology: 2nd order effects or indirect effects

- Social / structural changes: 3rd order effects or systemic effects

The next step would be - based on the impact analysis - to consider which SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) are relevant for my company / project and to set corresponding goals here.
